Project Engineer

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review all drawings and specifications ensuring they properly relate to the estimate.
  • Payment applications
    • To Owner
    • To Main Office (Supers Reports)
  • Project schedule
    • Creation of baseline
    • Monthly updates
    • Tracking of project issues that impact project completion
  • Change Orders
    • Generate and review proposals
    • Impacts to overall CPM
    • Negotiate with CM/Owner
  • Document Controls (Oversee creation and maintenance of the following)
    • Drawing logs
    • RFIs, Submittals
    • Meeting minutes
  • Quality Control
    • Field check work to meet contract documents
    • Coordinate subcontractor work
    • Preconstruction meetings for field work
  • Manage Office and Field Engineers
  • Manage MEP coordination
  • Liaison to main office purchasing staff for required subcontractors.
  • Oversee the entire submittal, RFI, and subcontractor coordination process.
  • Report directly to Project Manager
  • Prepare contract item list for components of all disciplines.
  • Coordinate all trades on a master coordination set of drawings securing the approval of the architects and engineers.
  • Ensure that materials and equipment are released for fabrication in a timely manner to conform to the project schedule.
  • Manage project closeout, secure all guarantees, warranties required for acceptance and handover of all contractual items of work.
  • Maintain EEO compliances.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned.
  • Maintain orderly documentation of all field purchases
  • Schedule equipment and materials at the Project Manager’s direction
  • Maintain and submit accurate, timely reports and forms as required by the corporate and regional offices and specific to the project

 Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering required
  • Minimum of four (4) years of formal engineering training
  • Minimum of six (6) years of building field construction experience
  • Knowledge of estimating, construction costs, scheduling, purchasing and engineering principals and techniques of all general contract and subcontract documents, drawings and specifications
  • Sage Timberline, Plangrid, Bluebeam, & Microsoft Project skills desirable.
